Earlier this year, Detroit rapper and Doughboyz Cashout member Payroll Giovanni dropped an exquisite mixtape called Big Bossin Vol. 1 produced entirely by drum wizard Cardo. Those who heard it know it's one of the hardest projects of the year, and now they're back with more music.

Above is "Came Up Off Work," the first song from Pay's upcoming Sosa Dreamz mixtape, dropping later in November. The production, like a lot of Cardo beats, has a distinct West Coast feel, but Giovanni's flow springs from the wall of hard-nosed Detroit rap, making for an ear-grabbing combination of lush production and frostbitten raps. Adding to the Left Coast feel is the hook, sung with a vocoder by Australian artist Wavé.

Following Sosa Dreamz, Payroll is set to drop his new album, Giovanni's Way. Look out for that and watch the new video for "Came Up Off Work," directed by Jerry Production, above.
