Offset Buys Car for Man Who Saved His Life After Car Accident
Two weeks after Offset crashed his Dodge Challenger in Atlanta and landed in the hospital, we still don't know many concrete details about the accident. However, according to a Instagram post today (May 30) by the Migos rapper, a man walking to work on the night of the accident saved his life by helping him out of the totaled vehicle. To express his gratitude, Offset has apparently purchased the bystander, named J'Mmer Coleman, a new car.
In the since-deleted clip, which you can watch below, Offset films Coleman standing in front of a new Nissan sedan. "This is my boy. This is J'Mmer Coleman," Offset says. "He saved my life when I had an accident. He was the only one that seen me, helped me get out the car, helped me walk, get to where I had to get to. So, I bought my boy a car because, you know, he was walking to work. He was walking to work when he saved my life. God is good. God is good. God is good. God is good. Good is good all the time. Yes sir." Offset later posted a tweet of him and J'Mmer thanking him.
The "Ric Flair Drip" rapper was hospitalized after the incident on May 17 that left him with minor injuries that he shared some photos of on the 'Gram. TMZ later reported that Atlanta police will not file any charges related to the incident.
Coleman shared his version of the story in an interview on Tuesday with V-103. "I was walking home from work Wednesday night, getting up to the light at New Hope and Cascade," Coleman said. "I see a car, a green neon Dodge Challenger. Car takes off, hits the gas pretty hard, spins sideways, fishtails, runs into the curb, hits the tree. Okay? When the car hits the tree, a man jumps out."
The good samaritan continued, "He jumps out of the car. He runs up to me, and he says, 'Hey brother, can you help me? My name Offset. I'm a rapper.' I didn't realize until he came a little closer, and then I seen the chains. He dropped one of his chains. I picked it up, gave it back to him, and I was about to call the police. He said, 'No, don't call the police.' I was about to go on Instagram. I didn't do that. He just said, "Brother, just help me to my house so I can get to my folks.'"
Coleman claims he helped Offset return home, where Cardi and three friends greeted them. Offset's face and hands were swollen and his knees were shaking, so Coleman helped carry the rapper to another car, which left for the hospital. A few days later, Coleman returned to the house and met Offset's aunt and uncle, with whom he exchanged numbers.
Coleman said Offset called him Tuesday night to arrange a meeting today and express thanks, and give him his new whip. "That's all I wanted to hear," Coleman said.
