Noname Releases Debut Project ‘Telefone’
In 2012, Chicago MC Noname told fans her debut project would be called Telefone. There was even a cover floated out on the internet, but for years fans waited on the tape with bated breath. Now it's finally here, and you can stream and download it below.
You might know Noname, who previously went by Noname Gypsy before dropping the latter half of her name, from her collabs with Chance The Rapper like "Lost" off Acid Rap and the loosie "Israel," but you should be more familiar with the random cuts she's let loose throughout the years. Songs like "Dizzy," produced by TDE beatmaker Tae Beast, "You and I," produced by loop extraordinaire Knxwledge, and "Mary Jane Love" are just a couple solo examples of how dope she's been for a long time now.
Back in 2013, FakeShoreDrive reported that Telefone was "a culmination of different conversations she’s had over the phone that have impacted who she is as an artist and young adult in Chicago. The tape is meant [to] feel like you’re talking to someone you like on the phone for first time, exploring their likes and dislikes, dreams and aspirations, and their ideas about the world around them." Whether that's still true remains to be seen, but we can't wait to dive in and find out.
Listen to Telefone below and get ready for Noname to take your breath away.
