Common speaks on Travis Scott's decision to perform at the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime show.

On Wednesday (Jan. 16), TMZ caught up with Common and talked to him about his thoughts on the "Sicko Mode" rapper's decision to appear alongside Maroon 5 and Big Boi for the nationally televised concert during the 2019 Super Bowl in Atlanta. The veteran lyricist said that he thinks Scott is a "dope dude," but he's not trying to support anything related to the NFL.

"He's a dope dude, but I really don't want to support none of that stuff," Common said. "Travis is doing what he's gotta do...I feel like man, I wish he wouldn't [do the halftime show] to be honest."

The "Stand Up For Something" rapper and social activist also praised artists like Rihanna, Cardi B and Tinashe who reportedly turned down the chance to perform at the Super Bowl because they support of Colin Kaepernick.

"I ain't with supporting the NFL," Common said. "They don't really support black people. Kaepernick said he's standing up for people who are being shot down, black and brown. The NFL basically blackballed him. They've shown how they feel about us for real."

While he respects the NFL players and Scott, Common asserts that his issue lie with the NFL owners. Scott recently confirmed that he'll perform during the halftime show under the sole condition that the NFL donates $500,000 to Van Jones' Dream Corps, which is a non-profit, social justice organization.
