6ix9ine is being held in federal custody after being arrested for and slammed with racketeering charges on Sunday (Nov. 18).

The rapper was locked up along with his fellow Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members Jamel Jones (Mel Murda), Kifano Jordan (Shotti), Jensel Butler (Ish), Fuguan Lovick (Fu Banga) and Faheem Walter (Crippy).

Last night, Tekashi and the five men were arrested by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents in New York City. They are all facing racketeering and firearms charges, and this investigation was one facilitated and executed by the NYPD, ATF and the Department of Homeland Security. The NYPD has confirmed to XXL that this investigation had taken place and that Tekashi is in custody.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 6ix9ine and five of his associates, who are reputed members of the New York City-based Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), New York Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security. A sixth defendant is already in state custody and is supposed to be transferred to a federal facility.

Earlier today, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman spoke on the role Tekashi played in the gang's repeated criminal acts.

“As alleged in the indictment, this gang, which included platinum-selling rap artist Tekashi 6ix9ine, wreaked havoc on New York City, engaging in brazen acts of violence," he said.

He continued, "Showing reckless indifference to others’ safety, members of the gang were allegedly involved in robberies and shootings, including a shooting inside the crowded Barclay’s Center, and a shooting in which an innocent bystander was hit. Thanks to the extraordinary work of HSI, ATF, and the NYPD, the defendants will now face justice in federal court.”

Jones, Kifano Jordan, Jensel Butle, Lovick, and Walter (Crippy) have all been hit with various federal charges, including one count of being in a racketeering conspiracy as part of Nine Trey, a count of using and carrying firearms they discharged "in connection to racketeering." For counts three through five, the five men have been charged with taking part in a gunpoint robbery in Manhattan back "on or about April 3, 2018."

For counts six through seven, Lovick is charged with firing gunshots at Nine Trey rivals at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on April 21, 2018. Count eight charges all five men with agreeing to shoot someone who "disrespected Nine Trey." The resulting shooting led an innocent bystander being shot in the foot.

The arrest comes shortly after 6ix9ine received probation and avoided jail time from his officer assault charge, which he got in May. It also comes weeks after a shooting outside a New York City restaurant involving Shotti and the two affiliates.

This arrest occurred a month after 6ix9ine was sentenced to four years probation and 1,000 hours of community service for violating the terms of a plea agreement for his 2015 sexual misconduct case. As a part of the terms of his new probation, Tekashi was forced to cut all ties with gang members while avoiding all gang activity. Speaking directly to his sentencing judge, Tekashi was grateful for the decision and stressed his importance to the youth.

"I have millions of youth that look at me as a role model and the last place I want to be is incarcerated, they don’t deserve it," he said. "Thank you.”

Tekashi now faces 32 years to life in prison. Check out the 18-page indictment for yourself.
