Big K.R.I.T. Parts Ways With Def Jam

Big K.R.I.T. is no longer signed to Def Jam. According to a tweet just after the stroke of midnight on Wednesday (July 6), the Meridian, Miss. rapper is moving on from the label that signed him in 2010.

Yesterday (July 5), K.R.I.T. released a whopping 12 freestyles as a part of his surprise "12 for 12" series. After dropping the final record, the producer/MC tweeted, "And at this moment right now, I want to share with you, that I am no longer with Def Jam." He continued, "It's officially MULTI til the Sun die."

Sha Money XL signed the then-23-year-old to Def Jam in 2010 after K.R.I.T. dropped his breakout project, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here.

At the moment, it's unclear what led to K.R.I.T.'s decision to part ways with the major record label. As stated in the second tweet, he's now even more committed to Multi-Alumni.
