Thanks in part to Kanye West's "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2" which employs the song, Desiigner's "Panda" has steadily become one of the biggest songs of 2016. The track currently sits at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, realizing a greater apex than any solo song released by Future, whom many credit for the origins of Desiigner's sound and style.

The similarities between the two rappers are so apparent in fact that Desiigner has seemingly embraced the comparison, announcing a new mixtape earlier this month that alludes to Future's January release Purple Reign and tagging the above Instagram video with #PandaHive, which doesn't completely point to Future's fanbase name of #FutureHive, but doesn't distance itself from it either.

In an interview with XXL in February, the Brooklyn rapper said of the Future comparisons, “I smile at that, I blush at that, but I have no hard feelings for the dude Future. He does his thing. Actually, I like some of his songs. I think he’s a great artist and I ain’t going to ever turn him down. Just know I have plenty of more music. That’s all I got to say for the people who say I sound like him. Keep tuning in.”

Despite the parallels in sound and phrasing, Desiigner seemingly told a crowd to quit making comparisons back in March, saying, "I ain’t that man.” Make of the above hashtag what you will then, but if the video is any indication, "Panda" still has some more gas left in the tank, with an official video likely on the way.
