For years now, Sacramento has been a city infested with gang violence. Sactown's own Mozzy has risen to popularity despite of (or perhaps in part due to) the violence surrounding his music. Videos like "The Truth" and "I'm Just Being Honest" sparked shootings that killed people close to Mozzy, but he's yet to bite his tongue, and now he's back with a new diss record, "New Era New King."

The song is the latest development in a beef that's been brewing between Mozzy and two older Sacramento rappers, C-Bo and Brotha Lynch Hung. Lynch recently did an interview with DJ Vlad appearing to dismiss Mozzy, and tensions accelerated after Mozzy did an interview with No Jumper. Though it's somewhat unclear what exactly he said during the interview to set off the latest series of events, Mozzy did mention T-Nutty, Bo, Lynch and X-Raided as four Sacramento rappers he's "funking" with. His comments seemed to piss off C-Bo, who later hopped on Instagram to claim Mozzy's pass in his hometown was "revoked." C-Bo followed that up by previewing a diss track where he appeared to mention Mozzy's deceased homie Zilla Zoe, and a couple days after that, Mozzy dropped the "New Era New King" video, shot in Sacramento.

On the new song, Mozzy wastes no time getting at C-Bo, opening the track with, "Bald headed bum, nigga said he a living legend, living like a peasant." He later mentions C-Bo ("If niggas know me, then niggas know fuck Bo"), Brotha Lynch Hung ("Who is Lynch? Nigga come to my section, he getting drenched") and T-Nutty by name on the track. It's worth mentioning Mozzy reps Blood while both C-Bo and Lynch are Crip affiliated.

Mozzy's new album 1 Up Top Ahk drops next Friday (Aug. 18). In case you missed it, peep his latest collab with Jay Rock, "Momma We Made It."
