Sacramento rapper Mozzy has been building the groundwork to make a major splash in 2017. Today (Dec. 24) on XXL, he premieres "A$$ Whoopins," the first single off his upcoming mixtape.

An ode to his mother for never sparing the rod when he would act up as a youth, the Cali MC keeps it all the way 100 on the introspective track produced by Dave-O.

"Mama I just like to thank you for them ass whoopins/I just like to thank you for them ass whoopins/Remember when you caught me in the kitchen crack cooking/I just like to thank you for them ass whoopins/Disciplined a fellow when my dad couldn't/He was down taught me everything my dad couldn't/Stole your money and I acted like your man took it/I just like to thank you for them ass whoopins," he raps on the chorus.

"It's like an appreciation song for my mom,” he tells XXL of the single.

The song will be featured on Mozz's upcoming mixtape Fake Famous, which is slated to drop in mid-January. The new project will feature guest spots from YG, G-Eazy, Lil Durk, YFN Lucci, Tank and IAmSu.

Mozzy is fresh off dropping his joint mixtape with Trae Tha Truth, Tapped In. He has released 12 projects in 2016 alone, including Mandatory Check, Fraternal Twins with E-Mozzy and Beautiful Struggle, which made our list of the 50 Best Hip-Hop Projects of 2016. Check it out below.
