Masego Looks for Love on New Song “Navajo”
Masego celebrates his 24th birthday by dropping "Navajo," the first new song he's released this year. "Navajo," which is produced by JLL, finds Masego rapping about looking for a woman who may not be what he imagined.
"I know you see it, girl/This ain't sitting real good in my soul/Everywhere this little girl goes/She pick up another obstacle/She was my heart/I don't know the tribe or the fall/But by default she don't think of me," he raps.
Last year, Masego dropped his 11-track mixtape, Loose Thoughts. The project's only guest appearance was Xavier Omär and featured production from Masego, himself.
The Virginia-bred artist's trap house jazz sound was made prominent in 2016 when he released his fantastic Pink Polo EP with Medasin. He has went on to collaborate with GoldLink, Soulection affiliate Louie Lastic, cutting R&B singer Abir and most recently TDE's SiR.
If you're not familiar, read more about Masego in XXL‘s The Break. He spoke to XXL about his goals in music: “My goal in hip-hop is to innovate and inspire. By innovate I just mean pushing the culture, that’s my main thing. I don’t like stagnant. I don’t like doing the same thing we’re used to. I like how hip-hop is just shocking and fun.”
