Lil Wayne is finally talking about his controversial decision to pull Nicki Minaj as the headlining performer of Hot 97’s Summer Jam before 60,000 fans at MetLife Stadium on June 3.

"That's a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female,” Weezy told MTV News, while backstage at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta on Saturday (June 16). “I don't know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how.

"As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything,” the Young Money boss added. “I pulled her from the show because...no person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I'm on this planet."

Wayne made the move to yank Nicki from the Summer Jam lineup after Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg referred to her pop-friendly single, “Starships,” as “bullshit.”

Wayne wanted and fully expected a better treatment for one of his main artists.

"I expect the red carpet—in her manner, the pink carpet should be laid out for her," he said. "I feel like a woman should be respected at all times, therefore I made the right decision.”

Having said that, Weezy seemingly stated that the decision was just business, leaving a possible open door for YMCMB artists and Hot 97 to collaborate on events next year.

“It's just an executive move, no salt, no bad feelings, no hard feelings," Wayne added.
