Lil Peep fans got a pleasant surprise on Friday (April 19), as one of the later artist's early classics, "Star Shopping," was released via streaming services.

The song is originally from 2015 but was reportedly initially removed from streaming services due to sample clearance issues. Now the Kryptic-produced ballad is back up for fans new and old to take in. "Star Shopping" is a slow burn driven by acoustic chords and echoed vocals. Peep waxes poetic about a complicated relationship. The single samples "Never Mess With Sunday" by Yppah.

"Wait right here/I'll be back in the morning," Peep rhymes. "I know that I'm not that important to you/But to me, girl, you're so much more than gorgeous (Yeah)/So much more than perfect (Yeah)/Right now I know that I'm not really worth it."

Peep's mother Liza Womack put out a statement on the re-release giving details about the song's origin. "Gus actually composed the lyrics to ‘Star Shopping’ on his phone, in his Notes app, on August 16, 2015 -- right after a trip to Cambridge for his grandfather's birthday," she recalled. "The song wasn't uploaded to SoundCloud until December of that year. That was Gus's big song, as he got many views and likes on it right away--20k in 24 hours, and over a hundred thousand in a week. He was very excited about that.”

According to Womack, a video for the recently re-released track "Gym Class" is coming soon as well. "Gus liked ‘Gym Class’ enough to make a video for it," she revealed. “He made the ‘Gym Class’ video with his friend and collaborator, Killstation. Killstation recalled that the photos used as overlays for the videos title and frame animations were drawn by Gus--using a sharpie on a paper towel, as there was no paper in their house.”

Peep died from an accidental overdose in November 2017. Since his passing, his family and team have put out new material including "I've Been Waiting" with iLoveMakonnen and Fall Out Boy, "Falling Down" featuring XXXTentacion and the Come Over When You're Sober Pt. 2 album.
