Kodak Black’s Best Loosies
Kodak Black is down bad right now. The 19-year-old Pompano Beach, Fla. rapper was arrested on May 18 after cops said he led them on a high-speed car chase. He'd been out on bond for previous charges, but the state revoked his bond after the car incident, and he's been locked up ever since.
The 2016 XXL Freshman was sitting in a cell when he turned 19, the same day he released Lil Big Pac, his fourth mixtape featuring huge names like Gucci Mane and Boosie BadAzz -- names that signify Kodak's ascendance to a new level of stardom. And while each and every one of his tapes is worthwhile, Lil Big Pac is his most concentrated effort to date, a straight shot of sorrow, triumph, alienation and paranoia.
But though his catalog of projects has built him a heavy following locally and online, many fail to remember the songs he's made that weren't included on any of his own mixtapes. "Rap Up a Check" got so hot that Chris Brown fans mashed it up with Breezy's original version, while "Jewels," one of his most catchiest recent songs, was released weeks before Lil Big Pac.
Now Kodak sits in a cell, waiting for trial while his fans plead for his freedom -- his next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15. So while "Free Kodak" shirts make their way around the internet, we thought it'd be a good time to collect Kodak's best loosies into one place. Check 'em out below separately below, plus peep the Soundcloud playlist we made to collect all of them.
