Kodak Black's lawyer believes that 6ix9ine could be a free man as early as this week.

On Monday (Dec. 16), Bradford Cohen shared a screenshot of a recent article on 6ix9ine that had the headline, "Tekashi 6ix9ine Prosecutors Recommend Reduced Sentence." In his caption, Cohen broke down his thoughts on why the rapper could very much walk free soon.

"This is very common in New York Southern District, NYSD. The Judges give the Government a very significant role in sentencing," Cohen explained on Instagram. "So much so that if they recommend probation, or time served on a crime that there is a min man. on or a large guideline range sentence, the judge will go along with whatever the Government dictates. So I believe #sixnine #tekashi6ix9ine will get released this week."

He continued on, however, saying that, on the other end of things, if a defendant decides not to testify against their co-defendants, they U.S. prosecutors could be spiteful and look to impose a harsh sentence.

"The opposite is also true, without discussing specific cases, if a def. refuses to testify against friends or individuals the government wants him or her to testify against, it bruises their ego and they usually seek a significantly higher sentence," Cohen added.

Just last week on Dec. 12, 6ix9ine penned a letter to the judge on his case to ask for a second chance before his scheduled sentencing on Dec. 18. The rapper's mother followed suit with a similar letter the next day.

6ix9ine pleaded guilty to federal racketeering and firearms charges in January following his November 2018 arrest. He later testified against his former Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods associates Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack and Anthony "Harv" Ellison, and while on the stand, told the court that he expected to be released from prison in 2020 because of his cooperation and testimony.
