Kodak Black Gets His First Two Solo Platinum Plaques

Kodak Black finally has the first two solo platinum plaques in his career, according to the RIAA. The Broward County MC's "No Flockin," his first real breakout hit, was certified platinum on June 9, while his latest smash "Tunnel Vision" was certified on June 7.

Kodak originally dropped "No Flockin," produced by VinnyxProd, in August of 2014, and to date it has 101 million views on YouTube. "Tunnel Vision," produced by Metro Boomin, Southside and CuBeatz, was released over two years later in February 2017, and it already has 30 million more views than "No Flockin." That speaks to the acceleration of success Kodak has seen in the last three years.

On June 5, Project Baby was released from jail after being behind bars since February 28. He still has to serve another year of house arrest, so while he was locked up, his team built him a studio in his crib. He's already recorded at least one song, "First Day Out" produced by Dyryk, and shot a video for it. That's dropping any day now.

In March, Kodak released his official debut album Painting Pictures featuring Future, A Boogie, Jeezy, Young Thug and more. It sold an impressive 71,000 copies first week. We talked to some of the main producers on the LP about how they put it together and what inspired Kodak's sound across the project.

Earlier this year, French Montana got a platinum plaque for "Lockjaw." Though Kodak was featured on the record, it was essentially his song.
