Kobe Bryant's have been anticipating Kobe Day, and today is the official day to celebrate the iconic basketball legend. Aug. 24 comes in honor of the retired player's former jersey number, and his new Mamba Mentality pack collaboration with Nike. To keep the momentum going, Bryant has been sending out challenges to some of his celebrity friends, including Kendrick Lamar, to promote it.

As part of the new narrative, Bryant is challenging the DAMN. rapper and his label to help out the music program at Centennial High School. The challenge comes as part of Kobe's "Detached" shoe, which is one of the new colorways.

"I challenge your record label to revolutionize the music program at Centennial High School #mambamentality," Bryant writes to Kendrick Lamar on Instagram.

While there's no specification as to which Centennial High School Kobe is referring to, most fans are assuming that the Compton-based school is the one he's shouting out. There's also no confirmation as to whether the basketball star implied for K. Dot's TDE imprint to get involved, or his major label, Interscope Records.

If we know Kung Fu Kenny, then there's no doubt that he will be up to the challenge, as he has been seriously involved in helping his community over the years. He even received the key to his hometown early last year.
