Kid Cudi Questions If Pharrell Williams Will Ever Work With Him Again
Kid Cudi's Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' is a fan favorite for most, but the Ohio rager feels the album didn't rise to the occasion and may have lost him a collaborator.
In a new interview with GQ, Cudder admits his label "didn't do the right thing" in regards to the 2016 LP, though it's unclear where exactly they went wrong. “I don't know if Pharrell will work with me again, because those songs didn't do what they were supposed to do,” he told the reporter.
If you're not aware, The Neptunes' mastermind produced the Andre 3000-assisted "By Design," as well "Flight at First Sight/Advanced" and "Surfin'," the lead single off Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'. Pharrell is also featured on the latter two.
Regardless, Cudi is in better spirits than he's ever been ("I'm not battling any demons right now. Thank God.") He recently appeared on Quavo Huncho's closing track, "Lost," and revealed he's currently working on a show with filmmaker and comedian Jordan Peele.
In June, Kid Cudi and Kanye released their first-ever joint album, Kids See Ghost, with plans to release several followups.
"There are some songs that we didn't use that I’m hopeful we can put out later," he explained in an interview with Billboard. "But the plan is to do more Kids See Ghosts albums... We just have this chemistry that's undeniable, especially when we have to fight for it with each other."
