Kendrick Lamar Wins Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at 2018 BET Awards
Kendrick Lamar wins again. On Sunday night (June 24), it was announced that the Compton rapper won the trophy for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the 2018 BET Awards. Other nominees included some serious heavyweights like Drake, Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, and J. Cole. K. Dot also took home a BET Awards trophy for Album of the Year, with his Damn. album securing him the award.
With his dynamic flows, emotional lyricism and knack for musical experimentation, Kendrick's continued success is really no surprise. These two new BET Awards trophies only add to what's now an incredibly long list of wins for K. Dot, who conquered the world once again when he unleashed his Damn. album last spring. In January, Kung Fu Kenny brought home five trophies at the 2018 Grammy Awards. A few months later, in April, Damn. won K. Dot a Pulitzer prize for music, becoming the first non-classical or jazz work to take home the trophy. Pretty impressive, right?
Other big winners of the night were Kendrick Lamar (Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year), Migos (Best Group), DJ Khaled (Best Collaboration, "Wild Thoughts" featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller) and Cardi B (Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist).
