Kanye West has been on a great run making public appearances lately, from his two Grammy appearances, his star-studded show in NYC earlier this week and the big reveal of his Yeezy Boost collab with Adidas. But the big moment everyone has been talking about was when he faked interrupting Beck's acceptance speech for Album Of The Year at the Grammys, calling back to his much-publicized interruption of Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs when she won for Best Music Video.

'Ye has been maligned and hailed in equal measure—the backlash came when he gave an interview after the awards saying Beck should "respect artistry" and give his award to Beyonce—but he seems to be playing along with the joke pretty well. Tonight, just as the 40th anniversary special for Saturday Night Live was about to kick off, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Carson Daly were wrapping up their red carpet special when Yeezy appeared out of nowhere to take Lauer's microphone. The fake interruption was an awkward moment at first, until Lauer and crew started laughing and the Today Show host pulled 'Ye away, tossing to the cold opener of SNL's broadcast.

We wouldn't really mind if Kanye kept this schtick going; it could be a welcome relief for some of the more awkward live red carpets and televised events that go on throughout the year. Check out 'Ye's "interruption" of Lauer above, and keep an eye out on NBC for appearances by Kanye, 50 Cent and Ludacris as the night moves along. Oh, and let us know what you thought about Yeezy's red carpet cameo in the comments below.
