It looks like J. Cole's new Internet-bending track "False Prophets" wasn't a surprise to everyone. The song in which Cole addresses Wale and possibly Kanye West borrows its instrumental from Joey Bada$$' "Waves." According to the Brooklyn rapper, he heard the song a while back, and even gave his blessings to Jermaine to use the track.

JB revealed the news on Twitter after fans kept saying Cole was biting his style. "Nah but nothing but love for my big brother @JColeNC. He played the song for me & asked for my blessing on the beat months ago. Real one #4," he responded.

He still feels his version is the best. "Imma tell Cole like I told Kanye earlier this year. ... I still got the best Waves of all time! Haha," he added.

While Joey's OG version does jam, it didn't move the needle quite like Cole's did. The North Carolina MC appears to address Kanye West on the track rapping, “Ego in charge of every move, he’s a star/And we can’t look away due to the days that he caught our hearts/He’s fallen apart, but we deny it/Justifying that half-ass shit he dropped, we always buy it/When he tell us he a genius but it’s clearer lately/It’s been hard for him to look into the mirror lately/There was a time when this nigga was my hero, maybe/That’s the reason why his fall from grace is hard to take.”

The speculation had the hip-hop world running wild. Cole's new album 4 Your Eyez Only drops Dec. 9. Check out everything there is to know about the album here.
