‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Fail to Answer Clue About Kendrick Lamar’s Music
Kendrick Lamar is one of the most well-known rappers on the planet, but the MC's fame took a bit of a humbling during a recent episode of Jeopardy!, when none of the contestants were able to answer a clue about his music.
The K. Dot mention came under the category of “Recent R&B & Hip-Hop Hits," and was worth $2,000. The clue: “Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA.’ He had ‘Loyalty.’ He was ‘Humble.’ & in ‘Love.’ -- ‘Damn.'” The hints were met with crickets from the three contestants, whom didn't exactly look like hip-hop fans. After time to answer was up, host Alex Trebek came though with the obvious answer: "Kendrick Lamar."
The long-running game show has a history of sliding in hip-hop related content every once and a while. Last month, the show featured a clue about Jay-Z's 4:44 album. Under the category "Business of Celebrity," the show writers dropped this gem. "4:44 the 2017 album by this rapper debuted exclusively on Tidal music service also owned by this rapper." Unlike the most recent episode, someone quickly chimed in with "Jay-Z."
While the three Jeopardy! contestants might not know who Kung Fu Kenny is, the folks abroad do. He recently won big at the 2018 BRIT Awards taking home the trophy for International Male Solo Artist. He also put on an explosive show at the ceremony along with Rich The Kid.
