ILoveMakonnen Announces He’s Retiring

Less than a month after confirming suspicions that he was no longer on OVO Sound, ILoveMakonnen's frustrations with the music industry have reached an all time high, with the rapper announcing on Twitter over the weekend that he plans to retire from rap. The announcement comes on the heels of Makonnen releasing the new track "Keep It Low" while he is touring abroad in Europe.

A few of those tweets are included below, with his writing, "If I could release music how I wanted I wouldn't retire, but then if [I] did that, so many would have to just retire, so I'll accept retire...Nobody wants sneaky lady, nobody tryna hear that real music, so I need exit and let others prevail...No dream, the world doesn't need Makonnen, the world needs people to be themselves like Makonnen...Ima let them have it, cus I have more to get, and I'm not greedy so that's why I'll leave and let y'all have it."
