Forbes Magazine Runs An Article On Iggy Azalea Entitled 'Hip-Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman,' Then Changes It

Forbes Magazine caused quite the controversy earlier this year when they ran a piece on Iggy Azalea with the headline 'Hip-Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman.' Nicki Minaj even put in her two cents over the article, saying in an interview with the Breakfast Club, “Ok, I’m reloaded. Listen, all Forbes needs to worry about is my finances and when I’m going to be selling Myx Fusion for $250 million. That’s all they need to worry about. We rely on Hip-Hop journalism and blogs for that kind of information. So we appreciate that, but no thank you." Forbes subsequently changed the title of the article to 'Hip-Hop’s Unlikely New Star: A White, Blonde, Australian Woman.'

Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" Goes Platinum

If you didn't hear this song at least three times a day this past summer, you obviously lived under a rock. Iggy's hit smash "Fancy" was arguably the song of the summer, and it was certified Platinum this past May.

Iggy Azalea Makes History By Having The Top Two Songs In The Country

Iggy took over the charts this past May. Her smash hit "Fancy" took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart, and Ariana Grande's single "Problem," which she was featured on, took the No. 2 spot on the chart, giving her two of the top songs in the country at the same time. She joined The Beatles as the only artists to simultaneously have a No. 1 and No. 2 hit song in the same week with their first two Hot 100 hits.

Nicki Minaj Appears To Throw Shade At Iggy Azalea During 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards

Nicki and Iggy are undoubtedly the two most popular female rappers in the game right now, so when Nicki accepted her award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the 5th year in a row, it appeared that she was throwing shade at the Australian born rapper when she said, "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it." She continued by saying  "No, no, no, no shade," convincing few people that she actually meant no shade. Nicki took to Twitter not long after the controversy that ensued after her acceptance speech, ensuring that she meant nothing by the comments, and that she's congratulated Iggy publicly on the success of "Fancy." Though Iggy said that she was "unbothered" by anything that happened at the BET Hip Hop Awards, her boyfriend Nick Young did admit a few weeks later that Iggy was upset in the aftermath of the acceptance speech by Nicki.

Iggy Azalea Is Tapped To Host A New Show On MTV

Billboard Names "Fancy" The Song Of The Summer

Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" was ubiquitous this past summer, and Billboard realized that, giving the single the title of "Song of The Summer." They gave the song the honor based on its chart performance between the weeks of Memorial Day to Labor Day. The song topped the charts for seven consecutive weeks. The other songs fighting for the title had no shot.

Iggy's Sex Tape Situation

In early September, it was reported by TMZ that Vivid Entertainment claimed to have seen footage of what appeared to be Iggy Azalea with an ex-boyfriend in a sex tape. After initially denying the reports, her legal team said that the woman in the footage may indeed have been her, but that there was a chance that she was under the age of 18 when it was shot. Hefe Wine, her ex boyfriend, confirmed that the video is real and that it was him and her who shot the tape consensually. Iggy's legal team threatened a lawsuit if the tape was released, and since then, the tape still hasn't seen the light of day... Yet.

Iggy Azalea And J. Lo Shake It In "Booty" Video

In a video that definitely gives Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" a run for its money, Iggy and J Lo give rotund bottom lovers everywhere reason to rejoice with their too hot for TV video, "Booty." If you need a reminder of how hot this video was, check it out above.

Snoop Dogg And Iggy Go Back And Forth On Social Media

In one of the more unlikely beefs in the history of hip-hop, Iggy Azalea and Snoop Dogg went back and forth on social media after Snoop posted a picture that Iggy deemed to be disrespectful. After a few days of Instagram posts and tweets, T.I. helped squash beef between the two. Iggy Azalea Dresses Up As “White Chick” For Halloween

Showing that she has a great self-deprecating sense of humor, Iggy Azalea dressed up as a "White Chick" for Halloween, a nod to the memes that were going around that joked that Iggy looked like a character from the 2004 movie. Interestingly enough, earlier in the year, Marlon Wayans, who starred in the movie, also said that Iggy looked like a character from the movie.

Eminem Disses Iggy, Iggy Responds

We can always count on Eminem to say something controversial, and this time around, he set his sights on Iggy Azalea when he said “So swallow my pride, you’re lucky just to follow my ride/If I let you run alongside the Humvee / Unless you’re Nicki, grab you by the wrist, let’s ski/So what’s it gon’ be/Put that shit away, Iggy/You don’t wanna blow that rape whistle on me," on a track entitled "Vegas" off of his recently released Shady Records colllab effort, Shady XV. Iggy responded to him in classic Iggy fashion, denouncing his comments.

Azealia Banks Goes Off on Iggy Azalea After Eric Garner Verdict, Iggy Responds

We don't know what it is, but Azealia Banks can't seem to keep Iggy's name out of her mouth. In the aftermath of the Eric Garner decision, Azealia went after Iggy on Twitter, calling her "Igloo Australia," saying that she's silent during issues that affect the Black community. She went on to fire off a series of disrespectful tweets, including a tweet that said that she wants to "throw a jar of my piss" at Iggy. Iggy responded in a more subliminal way, saying that "Theres more to sparking a change than trolling on social media. World issues shouldnt be used as a poor excuse to promote fan battles," among other things. Iggy definitely took the high road on this one.

South Park Spoofs Iggy Azalea

You know you've made it when South Park spoofs you. They did it to Ye in the classic "fish sticks" episode, and earlier this month, they did it to Iggy. In the episode, a cartoon Iggy raps alongside a Michael Jackson hologram, shakes her ass, beefs with Lorde and raps about ripping off Missy Elliot. Hilarious. Check it out above.

Q-Tip Gives Iggy A Hip-Hop History Lesson, Lupe, And Of Course Azealia Banks Chime In

Q-Tip decided to give Iggy a lengthy, almost 40 tweet hip hop history lesson on Twitter, and stated that it wasn't him chastising her, but just "one artist reaching to another hoping to spark insight into the field you r (sic) in." Lupe chimed in to defend Iggy, before going off on a Twitter rant of his own, and Azealia Banks chimed in as well (obviously), tweeting that "Iggy Azalea Is Satan in The Form of Mayonnaise." Iggy responded to Tip's tweets by saying that they were patronizing, among other things. T.I. came to Iggy's defense at the end of it all.

After a year of chart-topping, beefing with Snoop, and denying a rumored sex tape, Iggy Azalea was officially named Google’s No. 1 Trending Music Artist. The Australian born-emcee topped the likes of Lorde, Solange, and Nicki Minaj.

Iggy Calls Azaelia Banks A Bigot

Iggy reached her breaking point about a week and a half ago when she went on a Twitter rant and called Azealia Banks a bigot. This came after Azealia Banks went on Hot 97 and called T.I. a "shoe shining coon," and trashed Iggy over the course of the interview.

Iggy On-Stage Fails

Iggy took a tumble while performing her breakout smash hit "Fancy" during a pre-VMA show at the Avalon in L.A. on Friday, Aug. 22.She joked and said it was Lopez fault because she prophesied the fall when the two performed in Chicago a while back.
