Forbes Magazine, an editorial outlet dedicated to money and business, caught serious backlash when it ventured into the hip-hop realm. Contributing writer Hugh McIntyre, who covers "music, charts, and anything pop related," penned a piece about the rise of Iggy Azalea. When the article was first published, it ran under the headline "Hip-Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman," which did not sit well with readers. Hip-hop fans declared that the headline reeked of a lack of knowledge about the culture, that it was only used for "click baiting," and it was an attempt to "white wash" hip-hop.

Facing criticism, Forbes changed the headline to, "Hip-Hop's Unlikely New Star: A White, Blonde, Australian Woman" and issued the following statement:

The title of this article has been changed from its original version — Hip Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman— because it did not accurately reflect the content of the piece. The author offers sincere apologies to anyone who was offended by it.
