On Tuesday night (Sept. 12), celebrities from all forms of entertainment joined together to raise money for victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which have left parts of Texas and Florida destroyed. Organized by Bun B, Hand in Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Relief included a strong presence of hip-hop stars.

After an opening number from Stevie Wonder performing “Lean on Me,” the broadcast moved to Kelly Rowland, who made a plea for people to donate. And while not in attendance for the event, Beyoncé spoke in a pre-recorded segment, urging viewers to donate goods for children and the elderly. “Natural disasters don’t discriminate,” the singer said, also reminding people that Mexico and India were struck by disasters recently.’

Drake also appeared in a pre-recorded segment, asking people to give whatever they could to help those affected by the storms rebuild their families and homes.

Later in the segment, event organizers Bun B and Scooter Braun appeared, urging people to continue donating. “We cannot sit on the sidelines while people suffer. Action is a must,” the rapper said.

Diddy, a late entry to the list of celebrities helping out in the telethon, spoke during the event with actress Kerry Washington, reminding viewers that people must help now. “This is your moment to make a difference in someone else’s life,” he stated.

The night also included hip-hop artists such as Questlove, Nicki Minaj, Vic Mensa, Travis Scott, Taboo, Apl.de.ap and DJ Khaled manning the phones, while Usher teamed up with Blake Shelton for a performance of “Stand By Me.”
