Today, Aug. 16, is the birthday of one of Atlanta's most popular figures, Young Thug! Thugger turns 27 today.

Born Jeffery Williams, the Zone 3 spitter started making noise in the regional rap game with his mixtapes series I Came From Nothing starting in 2011. Thug was taken under the wing of ATL legend Gucci Mane soon after and released his breakthrough project 1017 Thug under Asylum/Atlantic in 2013.

Thug has captivated fans with mixtape series like 1017 Thug and Slime Season ever since. He even caused some controversy back in 2015 by tentatively naming his mixtape Carter 6 before switching it up to Barter 6. With more than 15 projects to his name, Thug has amassed a rabid fanbase and became a sought-after feature without even dropping a debut album.

Thugger is known for his squeaky, slurring, sing-song rap style and the unapologetic attitude of being himself. With fan favorite songs like "Stoner," "Danny Glover," "Best Friend," "Digits," "Check" and more, it's no wonder this oddball has become a behemoth rap star over the last several years and one of the South's most successful exports.

In 2016, Thugger dropped his Jeffery project, which featured songs like "Wyclef Jean," "Harambe" and "Future Swag" and according to the rapper himself, was his official crossover project. It ultimately became one of his most popular projects.

XXL featured Thug, along with his mentor, Gucci Mane, on the Fall 2016 cover. So far in 2017, Thug has already collabed with Drake, The Weeknd and pop star Camilla Cabello and poured out his love letters with the 2017 mixtape Beautiful Thugger Girls mixtape.

This year, Thug's kept things a bit quiet, but a few days leading up to his birthday, he revealed plans to drop off a new project by the name of Slime Language today.

Happy Birthday, Thugger!
