Atlanta hip-hop artist Gunna has secured one of the biggest fan bases this year with his critically-acclaimed projects, but unfortunately an incident over the weekend kept him from a performance in Jonesboro, Ark.

Fans filled Gunna's Instagram comments after he failed to appear at The Diamond Grill venue Saturday night (June 2). Hours later his mugshot was uploaded to their inmate records, showing the rising rap star was apprehended and booked early Sunday morning (June 3) for possession of a controlled substance.

It has since been revealed that police arrested Gunna on two misdemeanors and two felonies, as he was in possession of marijuana, amphetamine, ecstasy, oxycodone and Xanax. Apparently the incident went down when Gunna and his friend pulled up next to a police officer and asked for directions, which was when the officer smelled marijuana. He then searched the car and found the drugs in a Runtz edible marijuana bag and an Icebreakers mint box.

XXL has reached out to the Jonesboro Police Department, who says the "Sold Out Dates" spitter has a probable cause affidavit hearing this afternoon (June 4), at which his bond will be set.

The 24-year-old Atlanta native has been a major factor in the resurgence of Atlanta rap this year. Teaming up with everyone from Lil Durk to Kap G and Lil Uzi Vert on "Marvelous Day," the YSL signee even has Gucci offering him top dollar to be on his team. "Somebody tell @1GunnaGunna I got a million for him to sign today to the #EvilGenius #NoCap #1017vsTheWorld" Guwop wrote back in early March.

When XXL spoke to him for The Break, the Drip Season rhymer hinted at more projects on the way,, including Designer Drip  with Hoodrich Pablo Juan. "We’ve been working on that shit for a while," he admits. "It really was done, but then I put 'Mind on a Milli' and 'Almighty' out, and he put out another song on Rich Hood. We kept putting out songs we were doing that we were supposed to save."

Let's hope Gunna's latest arrest won't keep him from reaching his greatest potential. Stay tuned for more details.
