For the past 15 months, Future has enjoyed a run of unqualified critical and commercial success. The one thing that's presumably hampered the banner year is his cold war with ex-fiancee Ciara, the singer and mother of the rapper's son, also named Future. Earlier today (Jan. 4), the Freebandz president took to Twitter to air his grievances.

Though he doesn't mention his former partner by name, Future aims his tweet at someone he says has "control problems," and laments that he simply wants to see his child, whom he refers to as "babyfuture." He also cites the figure of $15,000 per month, presumably a child support figure that doesn't allow Future the access he'd like to his son. He ends the run with the foreboding message, "Get ready for this classic."

Much of the critical narrative surrounding Future's run of Monster, Beast Mode, 56 Nights and his #1 album Dirty Sprite 2 centers on the idea that his 2014-15 music is a reaction to his breakup.

Since the split, Ciara has struck up a relationship with Russell Wilson, the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks. This season he set franchise records in yards, passing touchdowns and completion percentage, en route to a wild card playoff berth; the Seahawks play the Vikings in Minnesota next Sunday.

In the middle of next month, Future is heading on tour with Ty Dolla $ign. The string of dates will last into mid-March and hits most of the country's major markets.
