Future And Mike WiLL Made It Have A Joint Mixtape In The Works
Mike WiLL Made It quietly had a fantastic 2014, producing massive radio bangers such as Rae Sremmurd's "No Type" and "No Flex Zone" and executive producing Future's album Honest, among other things. But in the next few months Mike is planning on getting back into the spotlight in a major way. His next mixtape, Ransom, is due out on Dec. 15, while Rae Sremmurd's debut album Sremmlife—which Mike produced beginning to end—will be dropping Jan. 6. But he's not going to stop there; according to the Atlanta-based producer, Mike WiLL and Future will have a joint project out in the coming months called Ape Shit.
"It's like a tape, really," Mike said on a recent visit to the XXL offices last week. "Just something to just feed the streets right quick, 'cause at the end of the day me and Future do so many different types of music."
Mike, by his own admission, took a step back from radio-driven singles in 2014 and focused on setting up his Ear Drummer Records label, which is the platform that Rae Sremmurd and Two-9 are using to get their music to the masses. But with his close association with Future, the two had already come up with enough material for a full project.
"So I feel like it was more radio-driven and more pop, 'cause we worked on Miley's album—I executive produced Miley's album—then we did [Future's] album, and he just did the Ape Shit," Mike said about how the project came together. "But me and him got so many songs, so I was like, people love when me and him come together anyway. So people would love a full project of that, you know."
There's no date or other info on the tape as of yet, but with Mike setting himself up for a monster 2015, it could easily be coming down the pipeline. Check out the rest of XXL's interview with Mike WiLL Made It right here.
