Future Files Countersuit Against Ciara, Says Her Career Is Over
Future is firing back at his former fiancee Ciara with a lawsuit of his own.
In February, Ciara filed a $15 million defamation lawsuit against Future, claiming that comments he made regarding the child they have together falsely depicted her as a bad parent. "I gotta go through lawyers to see babyfuture…the fuckery for 15k a month,” he wrote on Twitter. Now Future has filed a countersuit, seeking repayment for legal fees incurred and claiming that his comments couldn't have hurt Ciara's career since it was already effectively over at the time, according to The Jasmine Brand.
The "Low Life" rapper claims that while the singer's fan base is "reasonably large," he refers to her last album as a "flop" and says she hasn't won many awards since 2013.
Ciara sued Future over a series of rants -- on Twitter and in his music -- in which he commented negatively about her and their child custody battle. She also claims he was just trying to hype up his music career.
For his countersuit, filed this month, Future essentially wants the court to force Ciara to stop bad-mouthing him and for her to cover the legal fees he's incurred while fighting her lawsuit thus far.
The DS2 creator opened up to XXL for his Fall 2015 cover story interview, giving details on how he was dealing with Ciara and her new fiance, football player Russell Wilson.
"I feel like a lot of moves are just made out of just being evil, basically," explained Future. "Because, you know, the success of my album and you still want to make certain moves to take the spotlight off me a little bit and shed light on a negative situation. Why would you want to put light on a negative situation? Even if I didn’t care about it, the people have a way of looking at it."
As Future rand Ciara's court battle enters a new stage, it seems the drama is far from over.
