By his own standards, Future has been somewhat quiet on the new music front since releasing Extra Terrestrial in June, but that's about to change, with Billboard reporting that the first single off his Beast Mode 16 mixtape will drop in the coming weeks.

This past weekend, at the taping of the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards, producer and frequent Future collaborator Zaytoven, who produced all of Beast Mode and will look to do the same for its follow-up, spilled some details on what fans can expect from the project's first offering.

“We should be dropping a single within two weeks,” he said, “and it’s featuring Drake.” Future and Drake, who released their joint album What a Time to Be Alive in September of 2015, just wrapped up their Summer Sixteen tour this past weekend, so if an extended week in Atlanta produced an entire album, imagine what three months on the road together could yield.

For Future, a return to the Beast Mode series is not only a reunion with Zay, but an effort to recapture some of the magic that the rapper displayed over a dizzying five month span in which he released three mixtapes, each earning its own critical acclaim. 56 Nights yielded "March Madness" and Monster gave us "Fuck Up Some Commas." Beast Mode meanwhile included "Real Sisters."

While a release date for Beast Mode 16 isn't yet available, Zaytoven's comments effectively raise anticipation for the project, with Drake himself saying he's got six or seven new tracks recorded himself.
