Ever since dropping You Only Live 2wice project earlier this year, Freddie Gibbs has been staying low. Last week, Gibbs linked with French producer FEYNMAN for "The Wave." Recently, he collaborated with Los Angeles producer Lophiile for a new song titled "Off Top," which was recently premiered by Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show.

Gibbs shows listeners why he's one of the best in hip-hop right now, "Thug wit me
Chopstick, my stick, keep six guns with me/Passenger seat and my bitch packing I know she gon bust with me/Yeah, swooping yo street, I pop a nigga she go on the run with me/Whip a brick, ship a ton with me, Twist a wood burn a lung with me," he raps.

When Lowe asked Lophiile about working with Gibbs for the record, the producer praised the midwest-bred M.C.'s rhyme skills. "I just love the way that Freddie rides the beat and comes hard as shit on everything, and just thought it would be a good match," Lophiile says.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are prepping the follow up their collaborative album Piñata, which dropped in 2014. That LP was universally regarded as one of the top albums of that year. Gibbs told Lowe that the album is almost done.

“I’m working on Bandana right now,” Gibbs told Zane Lowe. “It’s actually almost done. I think we’re back in the mixing process right now, but it’s definitely coming soon. I can’t tell y’all when we’re ‘gon drop it, but we’re just gon’ hit y’all out the blue.”
