Emilio Rojas Spotlights the Plight of Immigrants in “Walk Through Fire” Video

Emilio Rojas continues to make a name for himself by speaking out on the issues. Last week (Feb. 21), the rapper dropped off "Walk Through Fire," a new song and visual that addresses the plight of immigrants in the United States.

The first half of the Adrien Oneiga-directed visual focuses on a Mexican migrant who works long, hard days in the sun for what's Rojas alludes to being much less than minimum wage. His lyrics color the experience of the man.

"Been here a couple years and working 80-hour weeks for, 40 bucks a day/Only rent a room to sleep, ain't even take a break to eat/Ain't seen my daughter—heard she's walking now/She told me herself, 'cause she's grown so much she's talking now," Rojas spits as the camera focuses on the immigrant who's been slaving away.

The second part of Rojas' stirring visual places the focus on a Syrian refugee, who's seemingly been left the lone survivor of a horrific bombing. In these clips, we see the refugee, a woman, is surrounded by the aftermath of an explosion, with bits of damaged walls and broken ground scattered around her.

Last year, Rojas turned a lot of heads when he dropped off "S.O.S.," a song that addressed the injustice endured by his native Venezuela. Months before that, he unleashed a vicious Donald Trump diss song.
