In 2015, a friendship blossomed between Drake and U.K. grime rapper Skepta, with Drake getting a tattoo of BBK (the abbreviation for Skepta's Boy Better Know label) and the two of them appearing on songs together like Wizkid's "Ojuelegba" remix. But now it looks like they're more than just friends, because earlier today (Feb. 24) Drake announced via Instagram that he's actually signed to BBK.

"The first Canadian signed to BBK," Drake wrote on Instagram. "Big up my brudda @skeptagram for life yeah. And my section gunners too."

Drake was in London today to perform "Work" with Rihanna at the BRIT Awards, but that wasn't the only stage he hopped on. After that, he popped up in East London at Village Underground to perform with the Section Boyz, a South London collective whose music Drake has played on his OVO Sound Radio show in the past.

Drake's affinity with UK slang has deep roots, as he was raised in the melting pot of Toronto where immigration has helped Caribbean accents bleed into the local language.

Late last year, rumors swirled that Skepta was signing to OVO, but now it seems the tables have turned. The news is especially interesting in light of all the drama that's taken place between Birdman and Lil Wayne in the recent past. Many believed If You're Reading This It's Too Late was dropped out of nowhere so Drake could get out of his contract with Young Money, but at this time it's unclear what his label situation really is.

We reached out to Drake's rep but they offered no comment. We'll update this story as more info becomes available, but for now watch Drake get hype with the Section Boyz below.
