DJ Paul KOM is best known for his work as a member of the iconic Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia, alongside Juicy J, Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black and the late Lord Infamous and Koopsta Knicca. Now, Paul is on the solo tip, continuing the Underground project series, dropping Underground, Vol. 17 - For Da Summa a day early, exclusively with XXL.

On Friday (Sept. 15), the album will be available on all digital outlets. Underground, Vol. 17 - For Da Summa includes appearances from Yelawolf, Dave East, Jon Connor, Riff Raff, Layzie Bone, Lil Wyte, Weirdo King, the late Lord Infamous and more. The album was mostly produced by Paul himself with some co-production from Twhy, Styles & Complete and Locodunit.

Vol. 17 follows up DJ Paul's Da Reason: Thank Me Later mixtape, which dropped last month.

Listen to the album and find out what DJ Paul has to say about the new project and the status of Three 6 Mafia below.

XXL: What was the process like making this album?

DJ Paul KOM: It was dope! I went way back into the vaults and pulled up some classic music lines I've made from teenage years to now and reinvented it to today's sound infused with my old.

What makes Volume 17 different from the rest of the series?

It's an updated version of what's being talked about or danced to today but still with my classic grit to it. Good part about it is the 1990s are back so this was da best time to do it. A lot of artist samplin' Three 6 now, our music was before its time.

What's next for you?

I'm just producing and writing for all my new artists I signed, Weirdo King and my nephews The Seed of 6ix. Also been writing a lot of EDM for kids. Doing more cooking videos and TV.

What's the status of Three 6 Mafia?

Stay tuned.
