Original Story:
On Tuesday (Sept. 12), celebrities from every sector of the entertainment world will take part in the Bun B-facilitated telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma. According to the folks at TMZ, Diddy and Travis Scott have just joined that list.
The addition of Diddy and Scott takes the telethon to unfathomable levels of star-studdedness. The roster for the charity event now includes the likes of Drake, Al Pacino, Justin Timberlake, Dave Matthews, comedian Jon Stewart, Justin Bieber, NBA star Chris Paul, Demi Lovato, Leonardo DiCaprio, actress Reese Witherspoon, Jamie Foxx, country singing superstar Blake Shelton, Billy Crystal, Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, former NFL star Michael Strahan and country stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell and Verizon are underwriting the telethon to make sure 100 percent of the funds raised during the event go to victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Their sources report Dell will match the first $10 million worth of donations, while Apple is donating $5 million.
Diddy, Drake and Scott's participation in the forthcoming telethon continues the trend of rapper's chipping in to make a difference in the aftermath of a pair of disastrous hurricanes. Scott is from Houston, where Harvey hit the worst.
The telethon is organized in part by the same people who orchestrated the One Love Manchester benefit concert that was put on to raise funds for the victims of a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert this past spring. It will be aired by 17 networks, including CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, MTV, BET, CMT, Bravo, Oxygen, Univision, HBO, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The telethon will air between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. EST.
