Toronto Raptors DeMar DeRozan Says Drake Is Dropping A Mixtape In January
It's a good time to be a Torontonian. With the Raptors perched atop the Eastern Conference and Drake continuing his Billboard dominance, there isn't much to complain about--unless you're a Leafs fan, of course. And there might be something else to celebrate: According to DeMar DeRozan, we'll be hearing a new mixtape from Aubrey, sooner rather than later.
On NBA TV's Fan Night, the Raptors guard told Chris Webber and the crew that the rapper said he was going to give DeRozan his mixtape, which is slated to drop in January. Of Drake, he added: "It's incredible having that type of artist, of his magnitude, be able to support us."
It would seem only right that the winning parties team up. Drake—long a courtside fixture at Raptors games—was hired last season as the team's global ambassador. The Universal/Cash Money rapper has followed last year's Nothing Was The Same with a handful of guest verses and loose tracks, notably dropping "How Bout Now," Heat Of The Moment," and "6 God" on the same day earlier this fall. DeRozan, a Compton native who played at USC, is averaging 20.2 games so far this season. Watch the video here.
