Before the 2019 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting has officially launched, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

Despite being somewhat new to the rap game, Pontiac, Michigan’s own DDG is used to the spotlight. Initially garnering fame as a teenaged creator of comedy videos on YouTube, where he amassed more than 4 million subscribers across three channels, the now-21-year-old entertainer parlayed his popularity into a rap career in 2015 when he started putting original music on SoundCloud.

Over the past few years, he’s turned fans of his viral videos into fans of his flashy trap sound, as he continues to keep all eyes on him with tracks like “Givenchy,” “Lettuce” featuring Famous Dex and “Arguments,” which raked in more than 28 million views on YouTube. He even made waves with a Lil Yachty diss song titled “Big Boat” in 2017. DDG signed to Epic Records in June 2018, only boosting his profile. With his latest single “Run It Up” featuring YBN Nahmir, G Herbo and Blac Youngsta currently gaining traction, the Midwest repper wants all the spotlight.

Now that you've heard his pitch, it's time to vote. The 2019 XXL Freshman 10th Spot will run for one week. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into the XXL Freshman Class. Go here to make your vote count for your favorite artist.
