Birdman Phone Call Following 2015 Shooting of Lil Wayne’s Tour Bus Leaks
Last week, it was reported that Birdman and Young Thug could be charged for their alleged role in the 2015 shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus. Now, a phone call between Birdman and Jimmy "PeeWee Roscoe" Winfrey—the accused shooter of the bus—has leaked.
During the phone call, Birdman can be heard saying, “It’s time for you to come out here and get your money, man…You done did everything you could do... It’s an eye-opener, bruh. Strictly business, man.”
Winfrey reportedly placed the call to a cellphone owned by Birdman and phone records also show that Thugger called Winfrey eight times in 12 minutes leading up to the shooting.
Last week, lawyer Manny Arora, who represented Winfrey during his first trial, told WSB-TV that the civil suit filed by the driver of the tour bus is just a money grab. “This is just a bus driver looking to get paid and they need a deep pocket so if you connect Mr. Winfrey to other musicians or executives, that makes it a viable case for them,” he said.
The Cobb County District Attorney's Office will now decide in the next few weeks if they will charge Birdman and Thug for their role in the shooting. XXL reached out to Thugger's team but they declined to comment.
Winfrey originally pleaded guilty to six of the 27 counts he faced in relation to the shooting and was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation in 2015. Young Thug's former manager then appealed his sentence, claiming he was pressured or coerced into a guilty plea and had his conviction overturned.
