It's been a crazy week of music. South by Southwest set ripples of energy through the industry in a way that might have been unexpected to some. Despite sneaking suspicions that brands are taking over the whole thing, artists from Denzel Curry to Kamaiyah had stand-out performances at the 2016 SXSW. Now we're feeling the after effects, and it's not too shabby.

The main attraction of the week was Young Thug, who buried his Slime Season 3 album before it even came out. His label 300 Ent. orchestrated a funeral procession - complete with a second line playing Thug songs on horns - to parade through 6th Street, a main thoroughfare in Austin, Texas during SXSW. On the casket, they revealed that they'd be dropping it in exactly a week. Now that it's out, it's on to the HiTunes album and tour.

Domo Genesis was always known as one of the nicest rappers in the Odd Future crew, and now he's making mature rap music on his first official solo album Genesis. "Brotha" comes at the tail end of the LP, but with a beat hooked up by a dude as quietly outstanding as Drew Byrd  (with Kintaro on the keys) this one stands out.

In an interesting move, Ty Dolla Sign re-released his debut album Free TC today with a couple new tracks, including "Westside" and "Like a Drug." Ty Dolla's really killing these records, but he admitted that he messed up by giving out too many release dates for his first LP. Nonetheless, we're glad to get more music from dude.

ASAP Ferg and ScHoolboy Q went off on "Let It Bang," PARTYNEXTDOOR connected with Drake for a new record, and Atlanta kids Jabbar and Snubnose Frankenstein murder "Riches."
