6ix9ine Surrenders to Texas Police and Posts Bail
Just a few days after posting bail and being released from Rikers Island jail in New York, 6ix9ine is a free man once again after turning himself in to Texas police and posting bail.
On July 13, it was reported the "Gummo" rapper was granted $150,000 bail to be released from the New York jail but had to surrender himself to Harris County, Texas authorities. Now, according to a Monday (July 16) report from TMZ, the rapper did just that and posted the $5,000 bail in Texas.
The "Billy" rapper reportedly flew to Texas over the weekend and turned himself in to police just after midnight on Monday. After surrendering himself, 6ix9ine paid the bail and was able to walk out. An arraignment has been scheduled for Friday (July 20), but the artist may be back in court today. The alleged misdemeanor carries a maximum of one year in jail.
The charge stems from a January incident where 6ix9ine appeared to choke a 16-year-old boy in Houston mall. Footage of the incident surfaced in May and appears to show the rapper grabbing the 16-year-old by the hood of his sweatshirt.
Following his release from Rikers Island on Friday, 6ix9ine shared a video on Instagram celebrating his freedom. "I'm so hype, man. I need a haircut. King of New York City, I'm back home, I'm letting my nuts hang on these niggas," he said.
But the rapper was more apologetic on Thursday (July 12) during a hearing, admitting that it "wasn't very responsible" for him to go on a European tour while a warrant was out for his arrest. 6ix9ine was originally caught by police at a New York City airport on July 11.
