Before the 2018 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting has officially launched, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2018 XXL Freshman cover.

If you've paid any attention to the rap landscape over the last few months, you probably know what's good with Brooklyn's own 6ix9ine, the rainbow hair-colored rapper whose breakout single "Gummo" made him an instant viral sensation. The track has since gone platinum, With his guttural shouts and the pop-off-screen nature of his content, the dude's been everywhere. To date, "Gummo" has been streamed over 63.5 million streams on SoundCloud while tracks from his debut project, Day69, have been streamed over 150 million times. He's even hit the Billboard charts. On March 8, "Gummo" debuted in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
