Disgraced rapper 6ix9ine doesn't think cooperating with authorities to help convict his former associates will hurt his career. He actually thinks he'll be more popular once released from prison.

According to a TMZ report published on Sunday (Sept. 29), sources close to the defiant rapper tell the site Tekashi is aware of all the social media hate he is receiving from his peers and thinks people hating on his decision are just jealous. The "Gummo" rapper thinks his actions in court will soon be forgotten. He also believes he will be more popular than he was before he went in once he starts making music again.

As previously reported, 6ix9ine could be getting out of prison as early as the beginning of 2020 due to his testimony in court against alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang members Anthony "Harv" Ellison and Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack. He will reportedly reject witness protection and plans on resuming his musical career once released.

A rapper knowingly testifying in court against his peers and trying to return to the music scene is a precedent setting situation in hip-hop. Irv Gotti thinks the new generation will accept the rapper back into the fold.

"What I feel is, the new generation though...I think he can put out a new record and the new generation will fuck with it," he said in a recent interview. "They are not like me or the older generation who really have strong beliefs on snitching. You hear it now. You read the comments. A lot of people like, 'I'd have snitched too if they was gonna hurt me.' I think it's a new world and different from when I came up, my generation. If we was talking out my generation, he would have no chance at a career."

Will 6ix9ine have a chance at a rap career once released? Time will tell.
