50 Cent Is The First Rapper To Accept Bitcoin As Payment For An Album

Get rich or die trying right? 50 has stood true to this motto throughout the course of his career and he doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. Upon the release of his 5th studio album, Animal Ambition, 50 Cent announces that he'll be accepting Bitcoin, a new digital currency, as a form of payment of the LP, making him the first rapper to do so.

Fans can purchase the new album at 50 Cent's Shopify store, which will accept bitcoin payments with BitPay acting as the payment processor.  Shopify allows sellers to accept dollars, bitcoins or a combination of the two.

Although 50 Cent is the first rapper to go through with the process, he's not the first to express interest in the new form of digital currency. Back in December Snoop expressed his interest in Bitcoin stating that his next effort would be “available in bitcoin and delivered in a drone.” When asked about using the currency on Twitter Snoop replied, "I want to make it happen”.
