The 2014 Global Spin Awards Recap

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the Global Spin Awards took place in New York City. Honoring the best and most talented DJ's, the Global Spin Awards counted with an elite cast of presenters, hosts, and artists along with pioneering DJ's and the best DJ's of today's era.

The Award show opened up with an incredible set by Z Trip which was followed by AraabMuzik who did a live 10-minute set on his MPC. Lala Anthony served as host of the award show, which counted with top notch presenters like P Diddy, Michael Rapaport, Remy ma, Tahiry, DJ Red Alert, Swizz Beatz, among others.

The night also included a special set from the 2014 GSA DJ Of The Year winner DJ Mustard who got the crowd hype playing some classic West Coast tunes before getting into a set of Mustrad produced hits like "Rack City," "R.I.P.," "I'm Different" and much more. Mid way through the show O.T. Genasis performed alongside Busta Rhymes his street smash single "Coco."

A highlight moment of the night came via Swizz Beatz, who not only did an impromptu DJ set, but also announced that he planned to donate $100,000 for the next award show. The night closed out with a special awards to DJ Premier and Funkmaster Flex, as well as a performance honoring the classic records that Premo has created throughout time with acts such as Nice & Smooth, Das EFX and the legendary Rakim concluding the show.
