Yung Bans Shares New Project ‘Yung Bans Vol. 5′
Yung Bans continues his hot streak today (June 27) with the release of Yung Bans Vol. 5. The project features eight slaps from the Atlanta teen, including his tropical new single with YBN Nahmir and Landon Cube, "Ridin."
Bans leads off with the acoustic ballad "Heart So Cold," and mostly remains in that emotional melodic mode, including on duets with Tracy ("Stacks in my Slacks") and Juice Wrld ("Round"). "Word on da Street," with its monotone staccato flow and bass-heavy knock, shows off the rapper's capacity for straightforward bangers.
As with Yung Bans Vol. 4, the Vol. 5 mixtape is a combination of old and new songs. Tracks like "Stacks in my Slacks, "Word on da Street" and "Wish I Had" surfaced on SoundCloud in the weeks before the project's official release.
The project's drop follows the release yesterday (June 26) of lead single "Ridin," featuring YBN Nahmir and Landon Cube. The trio hit the beach in a Cole Bennett-directed video for the tropical track, which is built around a ukulele riff.
Bans has come up hard since the last Yung Bans installment in March, having collaborated with Future on a song from the Superfly soundtrack, which featured the 19-year-old among royalty, including Lil Wayne and Young Thug. He released an XXXTentacion tribute titled "So Long My Friend" last Wednesday (June 20). Bans collaborated with the slain rapper on 2016's "Iloveitwhentheyrun"
You can listen to Yung Bans Vol. 5 below, where you'll also find the project's tracklist and cover art, featuring Bans with a lightning bolt painted on his face, paying homage to David Bowie's Aladdin Sane cover. In an Instagram post revealing the art, Bans referred to himself as "Young Bowie."
