YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Birdman Whip a Bentley Through the Hood in “We Poppin” Video
YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Birdman continue to bridge the gap in New Orleans hip-hop. On Thursday (May 3), they dropped the video for the new banger "We Poppin," a song off NBA's recently-released debut album Until Death Call My Name.
Directed by Preston and Derek Dark, the video is shot in New Orleans, as it kicks off with drone views of the city. YoungBoy and Baby link up and whip a Bentley around the city while taking in the sights. In other scenes, they congregate with the crew. YoungBoy spits with conviction. "Chasin' that money, I ain't been to sleep in three days/Can't waste my time, I get that money 'cause I need it," he raps on the chorus of the Drumma Boy-produced track. "Got all these hoes in here bleedin,' yeah the G way/I bet you ain't never met a nigga cut like me, yeah."
Birdman comes in dropping his OG drug-lord lingo. "We get that money from U.S. and flip it overseas (flip it overseas)/Transport that pack with a trunk full of hella keys (full of hella keys)," he rhymes. "I'm from a pound with my round, we'll bust and flee (we'll bust and flee)/Bitch niggas hatin,' can't run that money up like me (run it up like me, yeah)."
The artists have more where that came from. They have a joint project in the works titled From the Bayou that was supposed to be released back in March. The offering has been pushed back, with no solid release date on the docket.
YoungBoy continues to deal with legal issues stemming from a February arrest where he was eventually charged with the aggravated assault and kidnapping of his girlfriend. He recently began community service as part of stipulations a judge gave the rapper after deciding against revoking his probation on March 30.
