For someone with such an arresting presence in the booth, YG doesn't tend to be too outlandish off of the microphone. But the Compton rapper has had a pretty, well, unassailable last 24 months. After sitting on the Def Jam shelf for nearly half a decade, he was finally able to drop his studio debut, the acclaimed My Krazy Life, last March. It helped that his longtime collaborator, DJ Mustard, finally saw his sound gain a stranglehold at radio. But when he was shot outside a recording studio this summer, YG was faced with the obvious, immediate challenge--he has made a full recovery after driving himself to teh hospital--while also coming up against expectations and worries that he couldn't replicate the magic the second time around. And while he's yet to set a release date for his sophomore set, his new single, the Terrace Martin-produced "Twist My Fingaz," recalls G-funk and a Los Angeles that far predates "Toot It and Boot It."

With that in mind, YG is branding his invincibility in the most visible way possible. The rapper has apparently tattooed the entire top of his head, complete with a portrait of the Virgin Mary and the words "No weapon formed against me shall prosper," which are taken from Isaiah 54:17. At press time, it was unclear which artist was responsible for the new work, but the image first cropped up on Karen Civil's Twitter account.
