Yasiin Bey Hops on Buy Muy Drugs’ New Song “Buy My App”

Yasiin Bey has been remaining quieter on the music front over the past couple of years, but he's lending his lyrical abilities to a new song. Hip-hop collective Buy Muy Drugs recruits the veteran rapper for their new track, "Buy My App," which hears him tapping into a new musical sound.

As the rap group is known for being extremely experimental in their music, consisting of members Denmark Vessey and producer Azarias, the retired MC lays down some unique lyrics that share some euphemisms about drugs and psychedelic imagery. The song reflects the collective's description which claims to be an "Afro-Brazilian percussive mien hybridized with the aggressive, federally-sanctioned genre: loom-bap."

Yasiin Bey has had an odd journey in the past couple of years, as he announced last year that he was retiring from rap. Despite his retirement, he announced that he has new music on the way at a concert that he headlined in Miami back in December 2016. The announcement came a month after he was finally given permission to leave South Africa, where he was being held following his arrest for allegedly showing an inadequate passport.
