XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Wants $15,000 Forensic Expert for Trial
One of XXXTentacion’s murder suspects is requesting the court to give him $15,000 so he can hire his own crime scene expert in his defense against the charges of first-degree murder.
The suspect, Dedrick Williams, filed documents on Feb. 6 to get approval for the use of a crime scene expert to help him prepare for his defense. He maintains that he cannot afford one himself and needs financial assistance from the court.
“[A] genuine issue exists related to this case, which will require the assistance of an expert witness in the field of crime scene reconstruction and other forensic evidentiary matters,” the document reads.
Williams’ attorney has told the judge that without the forensic expert, his client won't receive a fair trial.
This news comes after Williams requested $10,000 for a private investigator in the case. The defendant revealed to the judge that he couldn't pay it and needs the court to authorize the fee.
Williams is among the four men arrested for the murder of XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed on June 18, 2018. The other three men are Trayvon Newsome, Michael Boatwright and Robert Allen. Williams has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the case.
Authorities believe Williams drove the SUV that was used to block XXX from driving away in his vehicle. It was Williams' blocking X's path that enabled Newsome and Boatwright to approach and shoot the rapper.
